Wall Wash Lighting

Wall Wash Lighting

A narrow slot at the top of the wall turns a plain surface into the focal point of the room. Wall washing spreads light evenly down the wall; wall grazing keeps the strip close to the surface to pull out every ridge of stone, brick or plaster.

Wash or graze — the distance to the wall decides.

For a smooth wash, set the channel 8–12 in from the wall and use a wide-beam diffused strip. For grazing texture, bring it within 2–4 in and use a narrow-beam lens so the light skims the surface. Either way the source must be hidden behind a lip or trimless profile.

Match the color temperature to the material: 2700–3000K warms stone and wood, 4000K keeps concrete and white plaster neutral. Long walls need feeds at both ends — EasyLED splitters make that a plug, not a splice.
