Shelf backlighting places the LED strip behind the back panel of the shelf, creating indirect light that wraps around displayed objects. The effect is most dramatic when the shelf has a recessed back panel that hides the strip from direct view. RGB strips allow color-matching to retail branding or seasonal displays.

For a clean professional look, use a channel with a diffuser mounted horizontally along the back of the shelf. This spreads the light evenly and prevents visible hot spots at the strip surface.
